Learn To Fly
We offer introduction days, PG1 and full qualification PG2 courses.
Intro Days
This course is a fun and exciting day during which we teach you the basics of flying. We start by teaching you how to inflate, launch and control a paraglider on a gentle slope. Once this is mastered, you can progress to small flights and later to a couple of solo flights. There is a very quick progression in paragliding, and you may be able to complete a high flight if you feel confident enough.
PG1 Beginner Rating
This course gives you a very good understanding of what paragliding is all about. Within 3 to 4 days we teach you to launch a glider in different weather conditions, take-off and land safely. You'll fulfil all the requirements for a learner's rating (PG1) issued by the NZ Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association. We will also cover the necessary theory for your PG1 exam.
PG2 Full Rating
The PG2 is a full, in-depth intermediate pilot rating. You will be taught all the practical and theory requirements you need to fly safely as a solo paraglider pilot. This course includes the PG1 and an additional 30 flights teaching soaring, thermal flying, top and slope landing technique and many of the other skills required to be a competent solo pilot. We operate all year round and, if the conditions are right, we will be flying on one of our numerous local flying sites.
